Can’t wait for this one-Inie and Karen sure know how host a party.
It’s a slightly different kinda of vibe to the shows we usually play-a little bit more intimate and potentailly really quite sweaty (and that’s just Christoph). We’re gonna be playing a load of new stuff , including the first ever play of our just finished AD Bourke remix for Citinite. (we’re really excited about that one!!)

This is a remix we did late last year for our good friends Coco Electrik.

Originally it was going to be a sample heavy edit style mix, but instead it ended up being a bit deeper and spaced out. I think we were trying to channel LCD Soundsystem’s 45:33 a little (hence the super long intro) with a little bit of late eighties Prince drum machine action in the mix as well.

It’s a slightly different vibe from our usual dancefloor focused efforts but check it out, and thanks to Dan and Anne for giving us the chance to get creative with their work.

ps if you stare at the video for long enough you start seeing a 3D animation of Chris pulling ’shaolin’ fighting poses-and believe me that kind of Avatar-style trickery did not come cheap.

New Venue, new logo, same killer party.

Ain’t It Black is back! After a mystic hiatus, the underground house-party extraordinaire of Shoreditch will be holding its relaunch party at East Village.

I can’t freakin’ wait. It’s Ulysses 82’s spiritual home and we will be setting lazers to kill for this one.

It’s a week late, but we’ve finally got the download page up and working for the debut Ulysses82 Ep objectif:lune.

If you have been following closely you may well have some of the tracks already, but this is more about saying thanks for all the support we have recieved over the past year/18 months, than being super-fresh. If you’ve made the effort to get in contact via our myspace or facebook, sent us an email, left a comment on a blog somewhere or come down to one of our gigs, then this is for you-it really is the best reason we have for doing what we do. Special thanks also to the bloggers, deejays and radio stations who have supported us and inspired us in equal measures-Koen at Boogie Business, Danny/redrack’em, Black Shag at Beat Electric, the INX crew, Yo Mama, the sweatbreakers (aka Ain’t it Black), frisky , Inie, manny at citinite, Ad bourke (your remix is almost done!) and Dan and Anne at Coco Electrik.

We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here in the UK, but it feels like that kind of day anyway.

It’s all Dam-Funk’s fault.

After weeks and months procrastinating over what to do with the ever increasing Archive de Ulysses82-it was the chance to hand over some ‘cheap heat’ to the west coast’s leader of the nu-funk revolution, that finally prompted us to get our act together.

The result is a 4 track ep of edits and versions we have played and given to friends over the past 6-9 months or so. It’s a chance for those of you weird enough not to be checking hypemachine every week for new beats to catch up and also a chance for us to say thank you for all the support and amazing feedback we’ve received over the last year. The EP is called objectif: lune and will be available to download, here, for free next week.

In the meantime, in honour of a great night out with friends last night, here is a track that has never been posted anywhere -but has been played out by us and Red Rack’em (God bless him) a few times.

Ulysses82-The Action

It’s been a while, but after an extended summer break, Ulysses82 are back in the game.
We will be joining Riki, Sammy and the boys at Catch on Kingsland Road this Saurday to celebrate a year of dancefloor sweat, the highest quality party music and widly inappropiate whiteboy swagger. With main man 7oel and CWD also in the mix this is going to be a ceiling bashing, party freaking MONSTER of a session.

It’s no exaggeration to say that the YO MAMA parties have been some of the most enjoyable gigs we have ever played. There is something about the dark, slightly scuzzy venue, packed full of people who are only interested in getting a sweat on that encapsulates everything a Saturday night should be about.

There is a Yo Mama mix over at LDNNEZ if you need to get in the mood early and rather than turn up to the party empty handed, here is a super exclusive Ulysses82 track which we was originally put together specifically for the night and is directly inspired by the music the boys were playing.

Ulysses82 -Treat me like That ( Ulysses loves Yo Mama…often mix)

People sometimes ask what is behind the name Ulysses 82.

First off, those people probably need to brush up on their french-japanese animation.

The rest of it, the more esoteric elements, are summed up in the first two paragraphs of this fantastic piece ‘You Can’t Stop Us Now: Birth of Planet Rock‘;

“It was an age of wonder. It was the era of the pocket calculator and the digital watch. Toy manufacturer Coleco introduced the first electronic pocket-sized sports games. Video arcades were popping up in malls all over America; games like Pac Man, Centipede and Asteroids were supplanting the pinball machine as a teenager’s favorite pastime. The world of the Jetsons was slowly coming into being.

For three decades Hollywood turned out low budget sci-fi flicks that depicted a world ran by computers and policed by robots. All one had to do was to turn on the TV to get a look at what the future held for us. With all of the talk about technological advancement back then, people wondered what music would sound like in the future.
