After finishing his epic 2006 mix trilogy, east london music lover Disco Jesus comes back strong for 07 with his first mix of the new year entitled “Winter Movements”.
“..this mix explores mid-80s underground sounds with a distinctive Chicago club flavour touching on vintage house, soulful electro and nu-wave funk. With a few very rare, early house gems up its sleeve, this is definitely one for lovers of the proto-house melting pot.”

If you understand what that means, you’re in for a treat- if you’re a little confused-give it a try he might well convert you.

Our favourite musical evangelist Disco Jesus, has posted the final part of his epic mix trilogy -Autumn Blessings.

This mix is less eclectic than previous offerings, focusing instead on the period 1978-85 and featuring a deeply personal vision of underground disco with soul, jazz, rock, new wave and electro influences.

It’s my favourite of the three and features the awesome quartz-chaos (which I’ve always wanted to drop sometime, but it’s never quite seemed to fit)

The mighty Firemusic has posted the new disco jesus mix entitled ‘Summer’. The mix is a fantastic selection of rare and heartfelt black music and is the fruit of a lifetime of crate digging and clubbing.

It is all too easy these halcyon days of internet forums and obsessive beardy circle jerks to forget that for ‘old school’ music heads such as disco jesus, each track is the fruit of long dusty days, listening and searching.

Rather than just downloading every track Larry Levan ever played and then picking the favourite, there is a meaning and sense of emotional resonance with every 12″ here, giving a depth and originality to the mix that is uniquely Disco Jesus’ own.

DiscoJesus Part 2

Firemusic has a brand new mix by mysterious Disco Jesus. It is a classy selection of deep underground music, with heavy disco and jazz references. It’s the first of a series of four mixes by one of the most serious music heads I know, so is well worth a listen. The mix was recorded ‘live’ onto cassette for an authentic analog experience (with five second gap in the middle when the tape switches sides!)
