Third Floor Classics (part one)
third floor classics

When I was growing up my brother and I were fortunate enough to have our own floor in the house we lived in. This meant our house became the defacto hang out venue for our mates as we could smoke fags and listen to music without being disturbed.
They were good days.
ribena/chocolate slices/and the first beginnings of a lifetime love of music.
third floor classics are a collection of tracks from those halcyon days-not all of them have aged that well, but all retain some element of what it is that really excites me about music-in this case a decending acoustic jazz bass loop.
Jon Hassell-Personals(organized konfusion mix)
ps check out the amazing another night on earth-most blogs I check out I only really like about 40-50% of the music they post, with this guy it’s more like 90/95% !!!
It’s like having a musical doppelganger on the otherside of the world.
Disco Jesus-Autumn Blessings
disco jesus
Our favourite musical evangelist Disco Jesus, has posted the final part of his epic mix trilogy -Autumn Blessings.
This mix is less eclectic than previous offerings, focusing instead on the period 1978-85 and featuring a deeply personal vision of underground disco with soul, jazz, rock, new wave and electro influences.
It’s my favourite of the three and features the awesome quartz-chaos (which I’ve always wanted to drop sometime, but it’s never quite seemed to fit)

Everyone who regularly reads this blog will know the high esteem in which we hold the Primeister. It is shame then to read (via spine) that his latest mixtape is taking aim at deejays using new technology. Being big fans of serato (and the future in general) it is sad to see people you respect taking such a narrow perspective on things. To be making ridiculous claims about the amount of talent need to make ‘authentic’ mixtapes just seems like a cheap shot at the majority of hiphop fans who don’t have access to D&D masters and aren’t best mates with Nas and the rest of hiphop royalty. That aside what the f**k has format got to do with it anyways. Best hiphop deejay for me right now is J-Rocc and he like every other hiphop deejay I’ve seen play recently is fully serato’d up.
If this weren’t bad enough, fader uncovers the real scoop; that 90% of the records on the damn mix have never been released on vinyl anyway!!
So go check out the mighty Syndromes 2 by J-Rocc (which is also all vinyl, but at least J-Rocc isn’t some enormous hypocrite)
